Power Source

This Tradizione Gold-tone timepiece by Maserati uses a Quartz Chronograph movement made by Seiko Instruments, Inc. This is a well-respected quartz brand made in Japan.

The movement part number is VR3G and the battery is a Q371.

The Good

If you’re looking for gold in a reasonably-priced timepiece, you will certainly get it with the Maserati Tradizione Chronograph. The 42mm case is made of gold coated stainless steel — paired with the gold color of the hour, minute, and second hands on the brown dial, the overall effect is one of class and style.

This Maserati keeps their design color scheme simple and warm: the luminous gold-tone dial hands, the gold hour indexes, gold crown and push buttons, the gold case and bezel, and the brown dial and leather strap — combine to create a warm and masculine look.

The quartz chronograph movement is of good quality and powers the three subdials and calendar date window that appear on the brown and gold dial. The offsetting of the subdial locations are interesting and non-traditional, which gives this Maserati a different look than other Chronographs.

The Bad

There are no negative issues that have been reported with this watch. Due to the sub-$300 price, the use of the Seiko quartz chronograph movement, mineral crystal, gold coated stainless steel and genuine leather are all very generous design features offered by Maserati. While some users may prefer a self wind movement, a greater water resistance, or real precious metals, the price range this model is at negates the possibility.

The Tradizione’s functionality is impressive — the quartz chronograph movement is plenty powerful to keep track of conventional time as well as power the chronograph feature, subdials, and calendar date window.

This Maserati is a very solid watch overall. The snap on back case, stainless steel construction, and mineral crystal keeps this watch tight for a 5 BAR (5 ATM) water resistance, which means that you can shower and not worry about ruining your Tradizione.

The Highlights

The highlight of this Maserati Tradizione timepiece is the design and choice of materials and colors. As a Maserati, this timepiece must live up to its name and with a brown and gold color scheme, it certainly does.

The dark brown dial is luxurious and is beautifully complementary to the dark brown leather strap. The stainless steel case is gold coated and looks like the genuine precious metal. The matching hour indexes and dial hands give this men’s watch an overall look of warm luxury.

This timepiece would typically cost around $400, but you can purchase it brand new, from an official dealer at Masters in Time, for only $279.00.
