The Good
The first thing you notice about this Nixon is the beautiful and classy rectangular dial. This black dial features simple but bold stainless steel main and subdial hands. There are no numerals or markings to indicate the hour, however, the subdials are located at the 2 and 5 o’clock positions, so reading the time is intuitive since the dial is square in shape.
The 5-hand movement is simple and stunning. As opposed to the traditional placement of subdials towards the center of the dial, this Nixon Banks places them at the 2 and 5 o’clock positions, creating a vertical stack design on the right hand side of the dial.
The 2 o’clock subdial is a full hour and minute dual time while the 5 o’clock subdial is used as the seconds hand since the main dial features only an hour and minute hand.
The bracelet is wide and sleek at 33.5mm, with an integrated 21mm band incorporated inside the bracelet for a smooth look. This band is secure and uses a stainless steel double locking clasp with micro adjust.
The Bad
While the Nixon Banks has excellent quality and design, the minimalistic design may be too minimal for many wearers, especially for the price. There are no numerals or indexes on the black dial and there is no calendar window to show the date.
Functionality
This 40mm Banks has a lot going for it: a superior design, quality construction, and incredible water resistance. The Quartz 5-hand movement is perfect for this watch and its functionality. The 100 meter water resistance can withstand much more than your typical timepiece.
